The head (1) has a coolant channel (4) arranged geodetically over or under another coolant channel (3) and extending from an inlet side (Ze) to an outlet side (Za) of the head. The coolant channels are geodetically separated from each other, and a partition wall (5) is arranged between the coolant channels. The partition wall is mechanically isolatable in sections between the coolant channels. A multi-cylinder internal combustion engine (2) comprises a crank case (8), where the head is arranged on the crank case. The coolant channels are formed in same direction of a coolant.
