Provided is a useful method for producing a press-molded article, which has favorable moldability to an extent that deep drawing processing is possible, by means of heating a thin steel sheet to a temperature that is at least the Ac3 transformation point, then cooling at a rate that is at least the critical cooling rate at which ferrite transformation occurs, and starting molding from a temperature no greater than 160°C higher than the temperature at which ferrite transformation begins.
