1,253,122. Cooling electric machine rotor windings. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. 27 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 10650/69. Addition to 1,215,493. Heading H2A. In an electrical machine, e.g. turbogenerator, liquid cooled rotor winding, each half turn is soldered directly at 53 to the adjacent half turn and has an internal duct 25 or 35 for liquid the two ducts of one turn forming parallel flow ducts connected in the transverse conductor 10 of the end turn region through two-connecting bores 54, 55 to a small supply tube 13 connected to an axially extending projection 49 soldered to the conductor 10 and of axial length 48 and radial thickness 28 each greater than the radial thickness 45 of the conductor 10, the two bores 54, 55 having portions in the conductor 10 and portions in the projection 49 the latter portions being drilled from the transverse conductor side of the projection. This provides a winding similar to that disclosed in the parent Specification but in which the connecting bores do need to be plugged from the side 56 and the tube 13 may be of chrome-nickel steel requiring, remote from the winding, high temperature soldering or welding to the Cu projection 49. The bores 54, 55 may diverge from the projection 49. |
