An optical filter adapted for being integrated within a structure of an optical device and a method of filtering an optical signal by means of the optical filter. A plurality of wavelength selective reflectors (45) are configured to reflect, in response to a selective switching action, a selected wavelength from a plurality of wavelengths received by the filter. In one embodiment current injection causes a tuning of Bragg gratings. In another embodiment a switched on semiconductor optical amplifier allows the passage at wavelengths to a corresponding Bragg grating.
