PURPOSE: An apparatus for closing a lateral opening formed on a wall or exterior surface of a ship is provided to secure a high resistance against wind and wave impact and to reduce radar recognition on a ship. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for closing a lateral opening(4) formed on a wall(2) or exterior surface of a ship comprises a material which is removed from the opening in order to release the opening, guides which are extended along the opposite sides of the opening and accommodate the material, and a tension device which provide the material with tension in a direction perpendicular to the guides.
