[Also in Division E2] A zip fastener tape has woven into the selvedge a helical fastening member 110 which is flattened so that both legs 111 of a loop are in the same shed of warp threads Wa which always pass around the exterior of both legs 111 and never between the legs. In Figures 1, 2 and 3 the tape is at a plain weave with continuous loops of weft thread We which form a knitted selvedge at one edge of the tape and both legs of which are in the sheds Wp occupied by the helical fastener 111 and the warp threads cross between picks and between adjacent loops of the fastener. Twill and rib weaves may be utilised. In Figure 6 one set of warp threads in the fastener zone are shed to be always on one face of the fabric and the other set on the second face. In Figure 10 the fabric is woven with the fastening member having its engaging "teeth" in ward of the selvedge and the tape is then folded to bring the teeth on the outer edge to provide a concealed fastener. The fastener may also be sewn to the tape and not all of the weft loops may extend into the fastener zone.</p> |
