A polymer is compounded with an antistatic composition which comprises an alkyl, aryl or alkaryl sulphonate and an alkyl alkanolamide or a hydroxypolyalkoxyamide of an organic acid in a weight ratio of 6 : 1 to 2 : 1. The polymer may be a homo- or co-polymer of ethylene and propylene, polystyrene or a styrene/methyl methacrylate or acrylonitrile copolymer containing polybutadiene or a rubbery styrene/ butadiene copolymer. The antistatic composition may be lauric diethanolamide and sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate. The polymer may also be compounded with ultramarine blue pigment, calcium carbonate, silica, titanium dioxide and dimethyl phthalate.
