Lead/tin castings with brilliance - improved by aluminium additions

Addition of 0.5 to 1.5% of an aluminium alloy to Pb/Sn castings improves the surface brilliance. The aluminium alloy may be Al/Mg or Al/Cu with or without Mg and with or without traces of Ni, Ti, or Si. Reductions in polishing costs are obtained. The additions have little effect on melting points and improve mechanical properties.
