In the present invention, there is disclosed a hydroformylation process comprising the steps of: a) reacting an olefin with carbon monoxide and hydrogen at super-ambient temperature and pressure in the presence of a homogeneous rhodium catalyst or a homogeneous cobalt catalyst or a homogeneous mixture of rhodium and cobalt catalyst to form a reaction product stream containing said rhodium catalyst, said cobalt catalyst and b) contacting at least a part of the reaction product stream with a basic ion exchange resin at a pressure not exceeding 0.5 Mpa and a temperature of not more than 120 degC, such that at least a part of the rhodium and/or cobalt comprised in the reaction product stream is bound to the ion exchange resin. |
