The management procedure for an internal combustion engine (10) with Exhaust Gas Recycling (EGR) has an EGR regulator (26) and a diaphragm (27) in the engine's inlet duct, with the gas pressure (pnARGV) measured after the regulator. The gas pressure is calculated from the actual value of the recycled exhaust gas flow (ms-agr-reel), the pressure in the inlet duct (psaug) in the admission zone (11), and the section of the diaphragm aperture, and it is maintained by adding to the pressure in the inlet duct.
