Amines of formula (I): R1R2NCONHPhOCH2CH(OH)CH2NHR3 (I) (where R1 is H or an opt. substd. monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; R2 is an opt. substd. monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; or R1+R2 = an opt. substd. bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon residue opt. contg. a heteroatom; Ph is m- or p-phenylenediamine, and R3 is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic residue) are cardioselective beta-receptor blocking agents. (I) are prepd. by condensation of appropriate fragments, e.g. R1R2NH and ZCONHPhOCH2CH(OH)CH2NHR3 (where Z is a reactive residue) or by modification of analogues, e.g. redn. of Schiff's bases. |
