1,210,679. Magazine rifle. MAUSERWERKE A.G. 7 Dec., 1967 [8 Dec., 1966], No. 55814/67. Heading F3C. A rifle, in which interchangeable barrels of different calibres can be used, comprises a magazine 21 having a cartridge follower 22 and first resilient means 23 operative to urge cartridges towards the breech, and second resilient means 24, which extend from the base of the magazine to the breech, operative to exert a force on cartridges in the magazine transversely to the force produced by the first resilient means and to the axial direction of the breech. This prevents rattling when small bore cartridges are accommodated. As shown, the second means comprises a U-shaped leaf spring which acts on the cartridges in the region of the shoulder of the shortest cartridges to be used. The magazine is provided with recesses 25 into which the arms of the spring 24 may fit. |
