Cpds. of formula (I) R = H, Me R1 = Me, Et. Antiviral agents active against both plant and animal viruses. Active e.g. against tobacco mosaic virus, herpes simplex virus, Colombia SK polio virus and influenza NWS virus. Reaction of a 1-halo-3-R1-5-Me-7-R-adamantane (II) with NaOMe/MeOH or Ag2O/MeOH. Cpd. II prepd. by halogenation of the appropriate adamantane derivs. |
