The image is therefore partially developed by the cascading developer and further developed by contact with the accumulated developer. As shown, the developer is guided upwards by a curved deflector 23, which may be electrically biased to remove excess carrier particles from zone 24. In Fig. 4 (not shown) a cylinder (29) rotating about magnets (31) removes excess carrier.
