A tumbling toy comprises an elongated shell having rounded ends 4, a ball 3 which can move along the axis of the shell, and a plurality of internal ribs 6 formed integrally with the shell, the inner edges 8 of which ribs extend axially and are tangential to a cylinder, the diameter of which slightly exceeds that of the ball. The edges 8 act as a guide for the motion of the ball, and the ribs strengthen the shell, which may therefore be reduced in weight. The shell comprises two substantially identical cup-shaped components 1 and 2 joined together, the ribs 6 of each component having a portion 7 which extends into the other component. The toy may tumble due to the motion of the ball in the shell, and may also roll about its longitudinal axis. |
