Use of at least two primary or secondary amino groups containing 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine derivative (I) as an antimicrobial agent for polymers, is claimed, where (I) is reacted with a polyoxirane compound (II) to obtain a polymeric compound having 2-(4-yl-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidin-1-yl)-hydroxyethan-1-yl units (III) in regular intervals. Use of at least two primary or secondary amino groups containing 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine derivative of formula (I) as an antimicrobial agent for polymers, is claimed, where (I) is reacted with a polyoxirane compound of formula (II) to obtain a polymeric compound having 2-(4-yl-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidin-1-yl)-hydroxyethan-1-yl structural unit (III) in regular intervals.
