The present invention relates to a method for purifying a compound selected from a compound represented by the following general formula [1] or [2], a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon having no substituent, or kerosene:
(R represents a halogen atom or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and n represents an integer of 1 to 5);
(R is the same as above, p and q independently represent an integer of 0 to 4, with the proviso that at least one ofp and q is not 0), comprising:
removing a impurity contained in said compound by
a first step comprising contacting said compound with ozone gas, and then
a second step comprising contacting said compound with an adsorbent selected from zeolite or a basic adsorbent.
