1,206,727. Electron beam apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 Aug., 1968 [12 Aug., 1967], No. 38216/68. Heading H1D. [Also in Divisions H3 and H4] A cathode-ray tube for generating a sawtooth wave with a fast rise time suitable for high speed oscillography, comprises two electron multipliers to which the beam 6 (Fig. 1) is deflected alternately through rectangular apertures O<SP>1</SP> and O<SP>2</SP> in a diaphragm D 0 . An output is taken from the final.dynode D<SP>1</SP> 7 of the first multiplier to charge the capacitor C at constant current, and from the final anode A<SP>2</SP> of the second multiplier to discharge the capacitor. The capacitor C may be the deflection plates of an oscilloscope tube (Fig. 4, not shown) and the circuit may include Zener diodes (28, 29) to maintain a fixed voltage between A<SP>2</SP> and D<SP>1</SP> 7 ; an additional output may be taken from anode A<SP>1</SP> and fed to the electron gun of the oscilloscope tube. |
