<p>The process, which reduces the tendency of mechanical hardening or cracking of sheet during rolling of a steel of compsn. 0.001-0.01% C, 0.005-0.60% Mn, comprises maintaining the O-content of the melt to 300 ppm., adding 227-1816g. per tonne of mixed rare earth metals, hot rolling the ingot, followed by cold-rolling and finally annealing. Spec., the hot-rolling is effected at 927-1093 degrees C. The process can be applied to a variety of steels, e.g. enamelling, live or killed.</p> |
