PURPOSE: A differentiated performance supporting method and apparatus thereof are provided to elastically allocate an uplink bandwidth to an optical network unit by maintaining the minimum amount of uplink bandwidth. CONSTITUTION: A user network interface(305) receives plural uplink transmission target packets from a network. Packets are marked as either a first category type or a second category type. An uplink FIFO(First In First Out) queue(320) stores the packets in order to maintain the reception queue of the packets. A counter(340) maintains a first count value for a data amount stored in the uplink FIFO queue and a second count value for the data amount.
