发明名称 COIN VAULT ASSEMBLY
摘要
1,254,494. Releasable fastenings. KEYSTONE CONSOLIDATED INDUSTRIES Inc. 14 July, 1969 [26 July, 1968], No. 35380/ 69. Heading E2A. A coin vault assembly adapted to be positioned and contained in an opening in a coin operated machine with a coin vault 14 of the assembly in position to receive the coins deposited therein, comprises a face plate 15 having a central passage therethrough and of a size slightly larger than the opening of the machine, the coin vault 14 being secured to the rear face of the face plate to enter said opening, a back plate 54 positioned between said face plate and said coin vault, and spaced from the face plate, bolt means 41, 49 between said face plate and back plate and which are movable between bolting and releasing positions, a lock mechanism 31 located in said control passage and operatively connected to said bolt means, a lock mechanism retainer 62 to hold said lock mechanism in operative position and means securing the coin vault to the face plate. In the construction shown the bolt means consists of a cam bolt 41 which has a circular body 42 with a central opening 43 therein which fits over a flange 26 of the face plate 15, the opening 43 including a slot 44 which receives an arm 37 of a driver 35 which is connected to the plug of the lock mechanism which as shown is a plate tumbler cylinder lock mechanism, so that rotation of the plug rotates the cam bolt; the cam bolt has a pair of bolt arms 45 which project through upper and lower spaces between the face plate and back plate. The cam bolt body 42 is provided with a pair of slots 47 each of which receives a pin 51 disposed on the end portion 52 of a respective slide bolt 49 the slide bolt extending through side spaces between the face plate and back plate; thus rotation of the cam bolt also causes sliding movement of the slide bolts, the bolts in the bolting position engaging behind the plate of the machine in which the opening is provided. The face plate and back plate are spaced by posts which extend from the face plate and the means securing the coin vault to the face plate are screws 69 which engage threaded openings in the posts. The screws pass through slots 64 in the retainer 62 and also through openings 55 in the back plate 54 and when the screws are tightened the various parts are held in assembly and movement of the retainer 62 is prevented. When the screws are loosened the retainer 62 can be slid laterally and this brings an opening 67 into alignment with an opening 57 in the back plate and an opening 76 in the front wall of the vault and also into alignment with the opening 43 in the cam bolt; when the four openings are in alignment the lock mechanism can be removed rearwardly into the vault and replaced by a new lock mechanism. The face plate carries one rotatable bushing 18 having a key way therethrough corresponding in shape to the cross section of the key. In a modification of this construction the slidable retainer 62 is replaced by a retainer which is rotatable on the flange 26 of the face plate and which to retain the lock mechanism in position is disposed with the radial slot of the opening out of alignment with the radial slots of the openings in the back plate and vault so that the retainer must be rotated to bring the radial slot into alignment with the other radial slot before the lock mechanism can be withdrawn. In an alternative construction instead of using a cam bolt and two slidable bolts four slidable bolts are used, those of which replace the bolt arms of the cam bolt being operated directly by a cam which is operatively connected to the lock mechanism and the other two bolts are operated by ramp arms of the first two bolts which engage in inclined slots of the other bolts so that upon rotation of the cam all of the bolts are moved simultaneously. The lock mechanism instead of being disposed in the face plate 15 is disposed in a housing in the vault and is held in place by a bifurcated spring retainer which passes through the openings in the housing to engage the rear of the lock mechanism; the plug of the lock mechanism is connected to the cam by means of two pins engaging holes in the cam hence removing the retainer enables the lock mechanism to be withdrawn into the vault. In place of the bushing 18 a second cylinder lock mechanism is provided the plug of which is not connected to any other part of the mechanism but which prevents rotation of the first mentioned lock mechanism unless a suitable key for correctly operating the tumblers of both lock mechanisms is used.
