发明名称 IMPROVEMENTS IN COIN SELECTION MECHANISM FOR COIN VENDING OR DISPENSING MACHINES AND AMUSEMENT APPARATUS
摘要
1,255,041. Coin selection mechanism. R. D. BELLIS. 6 April, 1970 [8 April, 1969], No. 17787/69. Heading G4V. The mechanism consists of a plurality of selection units, each comprising three plates hingedly connected together, mounted vertically one above the other, see Fig. 3 (not reproduced) the diameter of a coin selected by each unit decreasing down the stack, with a common coin insertion slot in the uppermost unit. After initial selection by diameter the coins may be further tested for weight, magnetic permeability and rim thickness. In the embodiment described each unit consists of three plates A, B, C (see also Figs. 5, 6, 7, not reproduced); Fig. 1 is a plan view of one unit and Fig. 9 an elevation of plate C assembled to plate B. Plate A is pivoted on a rod 1 and urged by springs 1a against B, screws 2 determining the spacing between them and plate C is similarly pivoted on rod 9 at right angles to rod 1, on the opposite side of plate B. A cradle 8 pivoted on pin 19 with stud 6 engaging slot 6a, adjustable stud 7 and counterweight 18 is positioned in the coin passageway. Coins of sufficient diameter and weight overbalance the cradle and fall on to track 17; coins of insufficient diameter fall through the cradle and pass to a lower selection unit. Coins moving down the track pass a magnet 15, mounted on plate C and extending through an aperture (15a) in plate B, which retains any ferrous discs, and then enter a rim test lever 16, pivoted at 20. If the rim thickness is sufficiently greater than the inner face thickness the coin passes to a shoot 24, actuating the sensor lever of a micro switch 23 that is connected to a counting device. A clearing lever 10 (see also Fig. 10, not reproduced) is slidably mounted on plate B by studs 11 passing through slots (10a) and carries a wheel 12, free to rotate on countersunk stud 13, that engages an inclined track 14 on plate C and causes plate C to pivot when lever 10 is depressed (Fig. 2, not shown) allowing rejected coins to fall to a rejection trough. The clearing levers 10 of each unit are in contact so that on depressing the topmost lever all units are cleared together. The units may be connected together by studs 27 on one unit engaging holes 28 in the bottom flange of plate B of the next unit. Alternatively the units may be provided on the sides with studs (29) and stacked into slots in a back channel (Figs. 8 and 11, not shown).
