<p>6-Isothiocyanato-penicillanic acid Title compd. and its readily cleavable esters and amine, ammonium and alkali (ne earth) salts are prepd. by reacting a penicillin of formula (I) (where E' is a readily removable ester group such as a silyl, phenacyl or benz(hydr)yl group and W is H or E') with CSCl2 and optionally converting the product into the free acid or an ester or salt thereof. The products are intermediates for a wide variety of new and known therapeutically active thio-penicillins, many of which are claimed.</p> |
