High quality colis, free of voids and stable in use due to freedom from deformation by self heating, are made from e.g. round or rectangular cross section wire or aluminium strip with an insulating oxide surface film. They are coated with a wet cold-hardening or heat cured resin during winding the wound coil is dried or heated. Specifically a two part epoxy resin system is used and hot cured. The resin is bisphenol A based and anhydride hardener is used, the mixture ratio being 100 : 80.
