PURPOSE: An auto-focusing method of an optometer is provided to rapidly perform an auto-focusing operation of the optometer by minimizing the movement of the optometer. CONSTITUTION: Average diameters are detected from the image of an optometer-ring which is reflected from the corneas(2) of eyes to be examined(1). The average diameters are detected from the image of the optometer-ring, which is composed of main light source, using a diaphragm(60). Difference between average diameters is detected. If the difference is in a pre-set error range, a focusing operation is terminated. If the difference is out of the pre-set error range, an auto focusing operation is performed.
