摘要 1,158,655. Folding sheets. E. & E. PETERS G.m.b.H. 10 Nov., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 51343/67. Heading D1S. A machine for folding a fabric sheet comprises intermittently driven inlet belts 18, two sensing elements 26, 27 arranged in laterally spaced relationship transversely to the direction of movement of the belts 18 to detect the presence of a sheet thereon, a feed roller 1, 2 associated with each sensing element, the longitudinal axis of the feed roller extending parallel to the direction of movement of the belts 18, the rollers 1, 2 being drivaible in opposite directions and forming together a first folding means, and a second folding means following the first folding means. When the leading edge of an incoming sheet (not shown) is detected by a light gate 28, i.e. a light source and a photosensitive device, the drive to inlet conveyor belts 18 is stopped. However, if the sheet is too long and the trailing edge thereof has not cleared a light gate 25 the belts are not arrested and the sheet runs through the machine without being folded. After stopping the belts 18, light gates 26, 27 are slid inwardly on a brace 50 towards the centre of the machine and pressure rollers 4, 5 are moved downwardly by the piston rod of a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder 33 turning a toothed wheel 35 over which runs a chain 36 secured to the rollers 4, 5. The rollers 4, 5 press the sheet into the space between the feed rollers 1, 2 driven in opposite directions and connected to light gates 27, 26, respectively, so that they are driven up to the moment the respective edge of the sheet is sensed to position the sheet exactly in the centre of the machine. The sheet is then fed downwardly by both rollers 1, 2 to form a first fold exactly in the centre of the sheet. As it travels downwardly the leading edge of the sheet is detected by a light gate 29 positioned at a predetermined distance below the point of folding blade 40 and this causes the light gate 28 to move outwards with the same speed as that at which the sheet is fed between the rollers 1, 2. When the light gate 28 no longer senses the sheet, the centre of the sheet is acted on by the blade 40 operated by the rod 39 of a pressure cylinder 30 to push the sheet between outlet belts 16 and a roller 16a. When the leading edge of the folded sheet passes over a roller 7 a switch (not shown) is actuated to drive rollers 10, 15 so that a carriage (not shown) carrying rollers 8, 12 is moved outwards, Fig. 5 (not shown) so that the sheet drops thereon. Belts 17 pass around the rollers 8, 10, 12, 15 and around idler rollers 9, 11, 13, 14 and the arrangement is such that if the rollers 10, 15 are driven clockwise the carriage is moved to the left of Fig. 4 and if the roller 10 is driven anticlockwise and the roller 15 braked the carriage is driven to the right. When the sheet is fully on the carriage, the roller 15 is braked and the roller 10 driven anticlockwise so that the sheet is laid on a run-off conveyor (60), Figs. 1 and 2 (both not shown), which is moved along a predetermined distance to allow the next sheet to slightly overlap the first sheet. To fold the sheet other than centrally, the rest position of the light gates 26, 27 is adjusted for the first fold and the light gates 28, 29 for the second fold. In a modification (not shown), the light gates 26, 27 are fixed and the rollers 1, 2 are driven until the respective light gate is no longer interrupted by the sheet. 1,158,688. Dyeing hydrophobic materials with water insoluble dyes. CIBA Ltd. 10 Jan., 1968 [10 Jan., 1967], No. 1466/68. Heading D1B. Hydrophobic fibrous materials e.g. cellulose acetate, polyamides and aromatic polyesters are dyed with water-insoluble dyes of formula A-N=N-B-N-R 1 in which A is a diazo com- # R 2 ponent residue, B is a phenylene residue which may be substituted, R 1 is an optionally substituted alkyl group and R, is a residue -alkylene-O-COR 3 in which R 3 is a residue which contains a 6-membered nitrogen containing ring. Conventional methods of dyeing and printing are employed.
