[Also in Division A4] A container 11 has a removable lid 13 with a downward facing U-shaped annular channel 24 near its periphery engageable with the upper edge of the container side wall to form a seal, the container interior being divided into compartments by three integral radial walls 21. The walls 21 join a hollow pillar 20 at the centre of the container, the upper part of which is internally screw-threaded to receive a loop handle (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), upstanding from the pillar. The handle is joined to the container after the lid has been taken off. By pressing on the centre of the lid as it is applied to the side wall, part of the air trapped in the container is expelled via the channel 24, and the lid engages the walls 21 at their upper edge, thereby separating the compartments. The container may be used for different foodstuffs to be kept in a refrigerator, or for cultures, photographic film or uncatalysed plastics resins. The upper edge of the walls 21 may curve upwards where they meet the container side wall, Fig. 6 (not shown). |
