A turbine apparatus for converting movement of a fluid into electrical power is disclosed. The turbine apparatus comprises: a main rotor, a generator, and a mounting. The main rotor is rotatable about a longitudinal axis in response to movement of the fluid in a direction substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The generator is coupled to the main rotor and has a stationary armature containing windings and a generator rotor connected to rotate with the main rotor, which carries one or more magnets past the windings. The mounting is provided at at least one end of the main rotor, and is non-rotationally connected to the armature. The generator is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the main rotor, and the main rotor and generator are formed in at least two separate parts which are interconnectable about the longitudinal axis. |
