Top-gripping carrier with interlocked panels

Disclosed is an article carrier of the top-gripping type which connects together and supports a number of articles. The carrier includes a top panel, a base panel and a pair of spaced side panels. The panels together form a tubular structure. The top panel has a number of article receiving apertures, each suitable for receiving a portion of an article. The carrier further includes a structure extending between the top and base panels. The structure has at least one bracing panel extending from the base panel. The bracing panel has a distal end portion which engages with the top panel. The distal end portion has a locking head configured to be received in one of the article receiving apertures. An annular series of support tabs engage beneath the top of an article present in one of the article receiving apertures. The locking head comprises a wing portion adapted to engage the underside of the top panel to maintain the article carrier in an assembled condition and to maintain an article within the article receiving aperture. The locking head has a central portion which is engaged against one of the support tabs. The wing portion is engaged in a slot between two of the support tabs and locks the bracing panel to the top panel.
