The method involves starting an input/output firmware e.g. basic input output system (BIOS) (E1), and providing priority to a starting module of an operating system of a terminal (E2) via the firmware. A public key in a chip card e.g. universal integrated circuit card, is read (E3) via the module. Authenticity of a file e.g. system core, boot loader or virtualization layer file, representing the system is verified (E4, E5) via the module with the key. Starting of the system is initiated (E6) via the module if the authenticity of the file is valid.
