Disclosed is a N5-(2-ethoxyethyl)-N3-(2-pyridinyl)-3,5-piperidinedicarboxamide having a structure according to formula III wherein the substituents are defined in the specification or a salt thereof for use in the treatment of hypertension, atherosclerosis, unstable coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, cardiomyopathy postinfarction, unstable coronary syndrome, diastolic dysfunction, chronic kidney disease, hepatic fibrosis, nephropathy, vasculopathy, neuropathy, diseases of the coronary vessels, restenosis following angioplasty, raised intra-ocular pressure, glaucoma, abnormal vascular growth, hyperaldosteronism, cognitive impairment, alzheimers, dementia, anxiety states and cognitive disorders.
