<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter and an optical instrument which are restrained from getting large-sized. <P>SOLUTION: The focal plane shutter comprises: a rear curtain lever for driving a rear curtain; a first lever for driving a front curtain; a second lever arranged coaxially with the first lever and having an engaging part which comes in contact with the first lever so as to be able to press the first lever to make the front curtain open the opening; a self-holding type solenoid capable of holding the first lever without conducting electricity so as to keep the state where the front curtain opens the opening; a front curtain electromagnet and a rear curtain electromagnet capable of holding the second lever and the rear curtain respectively by conducting electricity; and a set lever which sets the second lever and the rear curtain lever to come in contact with the front curtain electromagnet and the rear curtain electromagnet respectively. A user can selectively switch over between a first mode in which the second lever and the rear curtain lever are set in a state where the front curtain and the rear curtain open the openings and a second mode in which the second lever and the rear curtain lever are set in a state where the front curtain closes the opening and the rear curtain opens the opening. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
