The spring damper device (1) has a working cylinder (15) that is filled with hydraulic medium and comprised with upper and lower working chambers (9,11) which are divided by a working piston (17). The working chambers are connected to a hydraulic motor-generator (13). A passive hydraulic valve assembly (21) is provided in the piston between the working chambers.
