An irrigation hose system for trickle irrigation of plants wherein the trickle metering device is constituted by an insert driven insert driven into an aperture in the hose wall, and the insert contains an adjusting screw which, upon adjustment, varies the rate of discharge, thus enabling a constant irrigation rate for all plants even if the hose lies on undulating terrain.
