摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst layer in which gas permeability does not decrease even under high humidification condition, utilization rate of catalyst is high, and water retentivity is high even under low humidification condition, and to provide a method of producing an electrode catalyst layer, and a solid polymer fuel cell using the electrode catalyst layer. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing an electrode catalyst layer includes a step for producing composite particles by performing high temperature high pressure treatment of ink containing primary particles 8 which contains Ketjenblack 1 carrying catalyst particles 4, ionomers 27 and a solvent, thereby introducing the ionomers 27 into pores 3 and primary pores 5 in the primary particles 8 and then performing cooling and vacuum drying, a step for producing electrode catalyst ink by adding ionomers 28 and a solvent to the composite particles thereby re-inking the composite particles, and a step for forming an electrode catalyst layer by using the electrode catalyst ink.
