<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving device and a receiving method capable of calculating a logarithmic likelihood ratio of a hardware. <P>SOLUTION: The device comprises a logarithmic likelihood ratio calculation part for calculating a logarithmic likelihood ratio in each area, in which a formula for calculating the logarithmic likelihood ratio for each bit is identical, on a constellation plane; and a selection processing part for selecting logarithmic likelihood ratio calculation part applied to calculation of the logarithmic likelihood ratio of each bit based on a position on the constellation plane of reception signals. The logarithmic likelihood ratio calculation part for calculating the logarithmic likelihood ratio of each bit is provided in at least one area including a secured area, in which a minimum value of an absolute value of the logarithmic likelihood ratio to be calculated is not more than a predetermined threshold. The selection processing part comprises a distribution part distributing the calculation of the logarithmic likelihood ratio of the bit corresponding to the reception signals to at least any one of the logarithmic likelihood ratio calculation parts, when the reception signals are not included in at least any one area corresponding to the logarithmic likelihood ratio calculation part provided to each bit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
