<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the production quantity (yield) of alcohol in larger degree than the prior art in producing alcohol using alcohol production microorganisms for producing alcohol as a metabolite in fermentation. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing alcohol from an organic substance using alcohol production microorganisms for producing alcohol as the metabolite in fermentation includes adding an electronic medium substance into a culture solution containing the alcohol production microorganisms and the organic substance, wherein the electronic medium substance is substance reducible by the alcohol production microorganisms, and applying electric potential to an electrode submerged in the culture solution to oxidize a reduced body of the electronic medium substance produced being reduced by the alcohol production microorganisms, and at the same time, culturing the alcohol production microorganisms to produce alcohol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
