<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suitable indicator for a tool state and a communication in a multi-arm robotic telesurgery. <P>SOLUTION: Medical and/or robotic devices, systems and methods can provide an indicator (20) associated with each manipulator assembly (8 and 10) of a multi-arm telerobotic or telesurgical system. The exemplary indicator comprises a multi-color light emitting diode (LED) (56) mounted to a manipulator moving an associated surgical instrument (28), allowing the indicator to display any of a wide variety of signals.
