<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic analyzer capable of sucking a sample from a sample container held at a position higher than a prescribed position of a sample container holder. <P>SOLUTION: When the sample is sucked for dispensation, a sample dispensation probe 16 is moved below the sample detection position where the sample in the sample container 17 is detected by a liquid level detector 16a and stopped at the bottom detection position detected by a bottom detector 16b.
