PHENOL RESIN BASED MOLDING MATERIAL

Provided is a phenol resin based molding material which is thermally stable in a heated cylinder and which can yield a molded article with excellent dimensional accuracy. The phenol resin based molding material comprises (A) a novolak type phenol resin having an ortho/para bonding ratio (o/p ratio) of 0.7 to 0.9, (B) a novolak type phenol resin having an o/p ratio of 1.1 to 1.3, (C) talc and (D) polyethylene or a polyethylene/ polypropylene copolymer, with the content of the polyethylene or polyethylene/polypropylene copolymer (D) being 0.5 to 1.5wt% relative to the whole molding material. It is preferable that the total content of the components (A) and (B) and the content of the component (C) are 20 to 40wt% and 5 to 15wt% respectively relative to the whole molding material.
