<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing waste energy consumption and obtaining excellent stable fixability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a fixing device including heating means 26 heating a fixing belt 24, a thermistor 27 detecting the surface temperature of the fixing belt 24, and control means comparing the data of the thermistor 27 with target temperature accumulated in the memory of a main body, to control the supply of power to the heating means and allowing a recording medium carrying an unfixed toner image to pass through a nip formed by the fixing belt 24 and a pressure roller 21, to fix the toner image on the recording medium by the actions of pressure and heat. Divided areas A, B, and C obtained by dividing an area where the recording medium is fixed into a plurality of areas in a direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the recording medium are set and target fixing temperature is set according to a pixel density for each divided area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
