PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to prevent damage due to static electricity without an existing rear electrode. CONSTITUTION: A common electrode(170) is located on a first substrate. The common electrode forms an electric field with a pixel electrode. A liquid crystal layer(180) is located between the first substrate and a second substrate. A backlight unit(190) is located in a lower part of the second substrate. The backlight unit supplies light to the second substrate.
