<p>A trocar tip has a longitudinal axis and comprises: an end portion coincident with the longitudinal axis; and a tapered portion extending to the end portion and narrowing in the direction towards the end portion. The tapered portion comprises a conical surface about the longitudinal axis and two concave surfaces which are defined by cut outs from the conical surface and which extend along the entire length of the of the tapered portion. The concave surfaces are preferably on opposite sides of the tapered portion and symmetrical about a plane passing through the longitudinal axis. The trocar tip with this construction is simple to manufacture and effective at enlarging an incision.</p> |
