摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external lighting unit capable of enhancing mounting density of LEDs. <P>SOLUTION: A ring-shaped external lighting unit 4 has an LED substrate 77 and a circuit board 78 housed in a laminated state through a first spacer inside a cylindrical outer case consisting of a front case 75 and a rear case 76. A plurality of lighting LEDs 80 are mounted on a ring-shaped LED substrate 77 which has nearly the same size of a cross-section ring shape of the front case 75. CPUs and memories M are mounted on the circuit substrate 79 for controlling lighting of the LEDs 80 loaded on the external lighting unit 4 and controlling communication with a bar code reader 2 in addition to controlling of an LED driving circuit. The LED substrate 77 is partitioned into a plurality of regions, and lighting of the lighting LED 80 is controlled for each area.
