<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transport method not loaded with ballast water as much as possible, and a tanker used therefore in order to deal with a problem of ballast sea water or the like causing an international environmental problem when transporting liquid such as crude oil by the tanker. <P>SOLUTION: In the transport method, a tanker T navigates while loaded with a water tank 3 in which clean water or cargoes other than the clean water can be loaded, in a liquid tank 2 of the tanker. At the destination, clean water W or the cargoes other than the clean water is taken out of the water tank 3 to make the water tank 3 empty. Liquid to be transported such as crude oil is filled into the liquid tank 2 of the tanker T. The empty tank after taking out the clean water or other cargoes is afloat with the liquid to be transported such as crude oil in the liquid tank 2, and the empty tank is elevated by an elevating/lowering device and located on an upper part of the liquid tank 2 of the tanker T, and thus the liquid to be transported such as crude oil is transported.
