The present invention provides: a liquid crystal display panel capable of solving the problem of degradation in the display performance caused by large changes in the transmittance-gradation characteristics due to the influence of environmental temperatures or light sources, by inhibiting temperature dependence relating to transmittance-gradation characteristics; and a liquid crystal display device using the same. This liquid crystal display panel comprises a liquid crystalline medium containing a plurality of liquid crystal compounds having a negative dielectric anisotropy held between a first substrate and a second substrate which are arranged opposing each other, and the sides of the substrates contacting the liquid crystalline medium have a vertical alignment property for the liquid crystal compounds. The liquid crystalline medium of the liquid crystal display panel comprises a liquid crystal composition (1) having a specific composition or a liquid crystal composition (2), and the liquid crystal display panel has a ?? of 0.2 or less relating to the transmittance-gradation characteristics coefficient curve calculated by a specific formula.
