The method involves determining a partial amount of time points at which system pressure of a motor vehicle-sided compressed air supply system is determined based on lastly-determined system pressure and/or based on transmission-sided temperature of a transmission. The system pressure is determined by compressed air valves (4, 5) and a pressure sensor (6). Compressed air is supplied to the transmission by the air supply system. Measured or calculated transmission oil temperature or measured or calculated transmission controlling device temperature is used as transmission-sided temperature.
