The device (10) has a sensor (16) arranged in a hollow body (14) i.e. cylindrical pipe, that includes an inlet opening (24) for supplying a part of gas into an inner chamber and an outlet opening (26) for discharging the entered gas from the inner chamber. A guidance wall is arranged in the inner chamber. The wall guides the gas stream to the sensor and to the outlet opening after passing the gas to the sensor, where the gas is entered into the hollow body via the inlet opening. A housing (12) is designed as an adapter. An independent claim is also included for an exhaust gas system comprising a metering device.
