<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell and a fuel cell system capable of efficiently generating power by distributing fuel fluids such as an oxidizing agent and a reducing agent in a gas diffusion layer to restrain variations in output over the power generating surface. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell comprises a membrane electrode assembly 10, a porous gas diffusion layer 40 for supplying a fuel to an anode catalyst layer 12 by diffusion, and a fluid supply 50 containing a supply passage 51 for the fuel supplied to the anode catalyst layer 12. The gas diffusion layer 40 is equipped with a diffusion passage 41 for diffusing the fuel supplied through the supply passage 51 in the direction along the surface of the gas diffusion layer 40.
