<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine operating device allowing a sewing machine to operate according to the operation of user's feet, capable of improving its operability regardless of a size of the user's feet. <P>SOLUTION: A sewing machine operating device 40 connected to a sewing machine main body and placed near user's feet, comprises, on a base 41, a control box 42, a pedal device 43 and a switching operation part 44. The switching operation part 44 is constituted by providing a revers stitching switch 49, a presser foot vertical switch 50 and a thread cutting switch 51, on an inner wall face of a rising wall 48 composed of a right wall, a rear wall and a left wall and opened on the front side of the wall.
